Lily Benavides grew up in Cartago, Colombia, and came to the U.S. 37 years ago. In New Hampshire, she served as a State Representative and introduced HB404 to stop local police from enforcing federal immigration laws.

She has long supported immigrant rights through her activism with local organizations in NH and in NJ as well, and with the Green Party of New Jersey. She also advocates for ending the genocide in Palestine, an arms embargo, cutting U.S. military funding, and stopping wars.

She is a mother of four, grandmother of eight, and cares for her family pets. Her work is driven by her love for her family, her commitment to human rights and justice and her desire to leave a better world for future generations.
